I've only really discovered Brahms recently. I love the Op 118 A major intermezzo. I sooo wanna learn it, I wonder if there are any other intermezzos which match the A major in such beauty.

I also like his Capriccios. Such fun to play, especially the B minor from op 76.

Feel free to post any of your favourite short works by Brahms! I'd be happy to check them out!

Brahms is one of my favourite composers. I love most of his late piano pieces which i'd think match the op 118 intermezzo. His sonata in F minor is also pretty great, especially the slow moevment.

On par (in my opinion) with 118/2 are 117/1 and 116/4

If you like Brahms' piano music, you might be interested in Dohnanyi's as well.

I have been absolutely obsessed with Brahms chamber music for months at a time, several times in my life.
If you listen to the scherzo movement from pretty much any of Brahms' chamber works and don't get a big smile on your face, check to see if you have a pulse!

And I'll add 119/1 and 119/2. (119/3 and 4 are not as lushy romantic but they are beautiful.)

Lol, that's why I'm going to be a conductor. And a choral conductor at that!

I haven't even gotten into his works that involve the voice yet. wink

And old school friend (pianist, singer and played other instruments also) was completely and utterly enthralled with the Alto Rhapsody.

117/2. Speaking of 118, no. 2 is my least favourite - although having said that, I still love it. no. 6 is my ultimate favourite. If you like 2, listen to 5 (118). It's all beautiful. All of 116, 117, 118, 119 are just amazing!
