G'day all

I brought a Steinway model "I" upright (1911 model) and had it shipped from Minnesota to Australia.The piano arrived in Melbourne (crated) and has been stored in a warehouse for 2 months.
Its now due to be delivered to my place within the next week or so,and I'm located South of Sydney .Once its here in my place , what is the best recommended time frame to allow it to sit before getting it tuned?. This is of course taking in consideration it came from overseas but has sat for 2 months in storage already.

Give it two or three weeks to let it settle, and then get Your piano technician to get it regulated (action adjustment) and tuned.

How much was the shipping, I'm interested to know?

There are two options here. depending how you personally feel about spending your money! The accepted answer would generally be to wait for a few weeks so that the piano can settle into your local temperature and humidity .... Temperature and humidity changes can wreck a tuning in no time!

However, the second option is to have a tuner come out to look at it within a few days so that it can be examined, in case anything has happened to it during transportation and storage, whereby the issue of insurance might be a factor to be considered.

The tuning may or may not be dreadful after its long trip .... if it's really bad ... can you put up with playing it in that state whilst you wait 3 or 4 weeks for it to settle in ? If not, by all means get someone out to tune it ... but don't be surprised if the tuning goes wild within a very short time due to its settling in. If it was insured against damage during transit, you will want to know about it as soon as possible to be able to inform yhour insurers.
