Hey Monica. Tricky question to say which is my favourite albums since they all have some exceptional pieces. I have listened to "Divenire" and "I Giorni" more than the others so would have to say they're my favourites at the moment although that may change the more I listen to the others:)

I think the orchestration really adds to the "Divenire" tracks but I also like the simplicity (although not sure that's strictly the right word) of the solitary piano in the "I Giorni" tracks.

As I say, I wouldn't be surprised if it changes smile

Maybe just a tad OT here...

I just placed my order for the "best of" book. I was wondering where I could locate a list of places his music has been used. I tried IMDB for movie soundtracks but struck out. The Olympic commercial brought tears to my eyes.

I can't wait for my book to arrive.

thanks!

I just got the Einaudi Islands book. I was so excited to get it, but the pieces are harder than they look. frown

Which is his easiest to play? Any suggestions from experience? They all look reasonable until I put my fingers on the keys.

Hi LizAnne, Some of the easier Einaudi pieces are Limbo, Exit, and I due fiumi. I can't remember offhand if they're in the Islands book, though. (Maybe only I due fiumi is.)

The good news is that Einaudi tends to repeat a lot of bass patterns, so it gets easier and easier to learn new pieces after you master the first one or two. smile

LizAnne, I've Island Book too.
The book has this pieces:
-Ancora
-Andare
-Berlin Song
-Dietro Casa
-Divenire
-Fairytale
-High Heels
-I Giorni
-Indaco
-Lady Labyrinth
-Le Onde
-L'Origine Nascosta
-Love is a Mystery
-Monday
-Nefeli
-Nightbook
-Nuvole Bianche
-Primavera
-The Earth Prelude

The best way to choose one piece is studying it before starting to play it. Take a careful read of each one and you'll understand how difficult/easy it is for you.

In my case, I started playing 3 of them in this order, with constant progress:
1st - Nefeli
2nd - Monday (ABF Recital #24 submission)
3rd - Indaco (ABF Recital #26 submission)

More to come! The book is great.

Can I just say...Ludovico Einaudi is the reason I bought my first crappy keyboard with 60 keys years ago, and the reason I'm buying my first acoustic piano in December.

So yeah, actually life changing music.

Terrific news indeed! It's hard to believe that it's been three years since Nightbook was released.

And welcome to the forum, foxes! There are a lot of Einaudi fans here on AB forum, as you've discovered.

Christmas for me will really be arriving on January 21, which is when Einaudi's newest album, In A Time Lapse, is released. But if you're like me and can hardly wait, here's an article about it that includes a link to the title track. It's beautiful. Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait, can't wait...

In a time lapse

And here's a link Euan found for me to a YouTube video that has some other snippets from the album interspersed with an interview about it with Einaudi.

You can listen to a sample (usually about 1 minute or more) of each of 20 potential 'songs' from the pre-release listing of Time Lapse on iTunes. It also says if you purchase the album (on iTunes) you will receive a digital eBook extra. Have to wait for January 21st. My birthday is early Feb smile

Here's a nicely written, detailed, and--it goes without saying--highly complimentary review of Einaudi's new album:

Review of "In a Time Lapse"

Oh, I sure hope I can get in here in the U.S. on the release date of 1/21.

p.s. Einaudi gave away two outtakes from the album on his Facebook page; I'm listening to them now, and they're beautiful... in many ways, more serene than the Nightbook pieces.'

More exciting news: On Saturday, Jan. 19th, Einaudi will be streaming live on YouTube an hour long concert, played in his own home, of pieces from "In a Time Lapse."

[video:youtube]4ImZTkeCHgA[/video]

Now all I gotta do is convert the 9:00 pm Italian time to Kentucky time...

I agree, Carlos; that arrangement is breathtaking. I'm going to check out the whole album, because I like a lot of the composers mentioned on it (Richter, Part, etc.).

Thanks!

p.s. I have had the same problem with trying to use the embedded feature. Somebody, I forget who, told me to try putting merely the mixed up letters and numbers part of the YouTube tag, and that works like a charm.

In other words, rather than copying and pasting the entire URL when prompted, simply enter 'QmV6dyEi430' (without the single quotes). I don't understand why/how that works, but it does for me. confused

ooh ooh ooh. Einaudi just posted a concert date in the U.S. for this spring, hopefully one of many: May 21 in Washington D.C. I guess I'll wait and see if something a little closer to KY gets scheduled.

<--Is in bliss, and I'm only on the third track.

The sort-of-title-track ("Time Lapse") is stunning. And I can't wait for the sheet music to be released so I can learn "Life" (which sounds doable).

I think this time Einaudi chose a more classical path then in other albuns. I use to call him a "new-classic" composer (a mix between new-age and classical), but this time I identify sounds more from the classic side.
I think it's natural: a composer evolves over time based on their life experiences.

Anyway, I think this album has some great pieces.
