I've just bought a 93 Yamaha U1F from Craigslist for my kids for $2700. I don't know much about piano. I had a piano tech. inspected it for me. It only took him less than 10 minutes, and he said it is in great condition. The piano looks good for me and only has one tiny scratch on it. It is from one adult owner and he bought it new in 94. I wonder if I've gotten a good deal for this?

Schin,

What't the serial number? And are you sure of the model number? F models I've seen are from the early 70's; however, they often sound as good as the newer models . . . either way, since your tuner gave it a thumbs up, the piano should be okay and price sounds fine. How do you like tone and touch?

Mike

Schin,

That puts it in the 93'-94' range. You got a good price. Sadly, for Yamaha dealers, these "used" pianos often perform at the level of their new models.

The U1 is one of the best upright pianos second only to the U3. $2700 was a good price.
