Hi all, first post so please be gentle.

I'm out to buy a new digital piano and visited my local music shop over the weekend and was blown away by the amazing sound quality of the Yamaha CVP509 but I simply do not have the budget for one of these. Besides which I think I would be paying for a lot of features which I wouldn't use.

So I'm thinking of buying a second hand one (Yamaha).

I know this CVP509 has top of the range, upgraded speakers/amplifiers, but was wondering if anyone knows of a machine from a few years ago which also had upgraded speakers/amplifiers, but which maybe doesn't have all the technology on it which the CVP509 has on it.

I'm really only looking for EXCELLENT sound quality, the other features are a little surplus to requirements.

Thanks for any assistance.

audi321, welcome to the forum.

If you do not require all the bells and whistles of a CVP, the more piano-oriented CLP models may be more appropriate.

May I ask your budget?

Yamaha launched a new range of CLP-400 digital pianos earlier in the year, meaning that you could probably find a used CLP-270/CLP-280 in good condition for a decent price.

Cheers,
James

Hi James, my budget is around £1500 ($2000). I'll have a look at those models on ebay to see if I can get one within budget.

Thanks again

audio321, it may be worth returning to the dealer again to ask what he/she would recommend within your price-range (either new or second hand).

Best of luck with your search!

James
