Wow, nice update - NP88 owners (Zach!) rejoice! wink

Fingers crossed that this feature is added to the original Electro 3 too! wink

Cheers,
James

+100 So glad I went with Nord. They're never complacent. A big THANK YOU to all the folks at Clavia. *thumbsup*

It is impressive how Nord keep supporting their customer base... regular new sounds, new features ported back to existing h/w, etc...

Regarding 'long release', i looked at Nord's web site but couldn't find a sound comparison between long release disabled/enabled (and it seems stores don't update their NPs so won't be easy to hear the improvements).

Anyone cares to post a short comparison clip with long-release disabled/enabled?

Yes, I was just about to ask for some Long Release on/off example clips.
Both acoustic and electric pianos, if possible, please!

I've installed the v.1.40 update along with re-installing v5.3 pianos, and so far, what I can tell with my ears is that the LR adds a more natural decay to the pianos. And call me crazy, it takes out some of the harshness from both the Bosendorfer and Grand Lady D. smile I'm stoked.

How come you need to reinstall 5.3 pianos?

This is probably a dumb question, but why would they make it a switchable effect in other models? If it makes for a more realistic (and playable) piano, when would you turn it off?

The 5.3 pianos work with the Long Release feature. The 5.1 pianos originally installed in the NP do not.

Yeah I agree. I can't imagine a scenario where have less release would be better for piano playing.

Rick, vox is right in regards to the v5.3 samples. They incorporate the Long Release feature, v5.1 pianos do not. I may be crazy but when I re-installed the Grand Lady D and Studio Grand 2, they both were downloaded much faster. The Grand Lady D only took 3 mins in Lrg size.

WOW - Great news and BRAVO to Clavia for bringing it so quickly!

Totally unmodest I'll repeat my wishes for future advances: Increase dynamic range on the acoustic pianos by about 12 dB, and add alternative tunings (if possible even a user-defined one)...

If that happened, along with larger EP samples, I'd buy it again!

I would like one more level of sensitivity on the harder side.

I agree Rick. One more heavy setting would be perfect. I have to say though, I feel I'm being selfish! Nord continues to improve its products, and we're still wanting more! smile I have fallen in love with the Bosendorfer all over again. I'm finding it more playable. Maybe it's a bit of placebo effect going on, but it seems to behave more authentically.

I agree with that.

OT... Rick, how's that old KS32 holding up - I haven't seen one in years. It was a great board in its day!
