I previously posted a selection (Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate) from a senior voice recital I had the privilege of accompanying at the University of North Texas in 1972.

Darius Milhaud's "Chansons de Ronsard" were also featured on that program. Composed in 1941, this set of four songs for high voice was originally written for voice and orchestra, but is most frequently performed in the voice/piano reduction. The work was dedicated to the coloratura soprano, Lily Pons. The texts are taken from poems by Pierre de Ronsard (1524-1585).

Each song is quite short - and unique. The soprano was extremely talented. I was just happy to be along for the ride !!

Wow, these songs are absolutely splendid! And an excellent collaboration, indeed. Do you know what the soprano is doing today?

Thanks so much for listening !!

That particular recital was definitely one of the most satisfying experiences I had as an accompanist. Unfortunately, the soprano and I lost contact and I have no idea what she is doing today.

Yes, it really would be impossible to keep up with everybody especially as an accompanist. It's certainly a blessing you have that recording to preserve the moment and even share it. The Milhaud is such a nice surprise, and I may now even look this set up!
