I'm new to PW, hoping to get some help in piano purchasing.
I'm looking for an old Piano for my 5yr old, and considering to choose from three Young Chang pianos, as they have younger age and lower price. First one is a 43" upright Bergmann E-109 about 7 year old asking for $1250; Second one is a 47" Upright Model E-118 purchased new at 1999 asking for $2500; Another one is a 44" Upright with Serial # 2200648 (looks like model F-108) purchased new at 1998 asking for $1500. Is Young Chang a good choice? Which one would be a better deal? Any advice and suggestion is appreciated. Thanks.

The 47" model should be a big improvement in tone and action. Whether it's worth the extra is up to you.

The E Series pianos were made in China soon after the factory began exporting to the US. At that time, there were some quality control issues.

The F Series was made in the Inchon factiry in S. Korea and were of substantially better quality.

Thank you for your reply. Do you mean Young Chang is not a good choice? I intended to go for a 20-30 years old Yamaha U1 for around $3000 at first. But I couldn't find such deal on local. So Young Chang seems the only decent choice for me.

I'm with both Steves on their feedback/advice grin

That F series Young Chang manufactured in S. Korea is pretty decent though the question might be whether the furniture styling meets your furniture criteria if you haapen to have one. (french provincial, country french oak etc.)

Unless you can acquire it for 1000ish than I'd take Steve's advice and pass on all three.
