OP PDave Junior Member P Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 3	We need to re-design our auditorium and it looks like our only option is to put the piano (5 foot Wurlitzer) and organ on the right side of the auditorium, with the piano on the floor auditorium floor in front of the organ. Is there someway to make this work? The piano will open the wrong way no mater which way we turn it. The room is 30 feet wide, 9 feet tall at the sides and 20 feet high in the middle. The room is 80 feet long with wood beams every 8 feet. Our concern is getting the sound out into the room effectively.

What's stopping you pointing it in any direction you like?

OP PDave Junior Member P Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 3	If the piano is opened toward the auditorium then the pianist's back is either to the platform area or the auditorium, in either case the pianist does not have the ability to see and communicate visually with others on the platform or see what is happening in the auditorium. Does it hurt the sound greatly to have the piano open toward the wall?

It depends on a lot of things, but a piano is more of a "fill" type of of sound then a "direct". Give it a try but remember that the sound will be VERY different when the room is full.. what may sound loud and bright in an empty room can become soft and dull in a full room.
