Spotify was launched in the U.S. about two weeks ago.

http://www.spotify.com/about-us/press/hello-america-spotify-here/

Because of the huge and relatively well-organized library of music, I can honestly say that Spotify really made me serious about listening to classical and jazz.

Some highlights:
Gould 1981 recording of Goldberg Variations

Martha Argerich 8 CD collection

Drury recording of Rzewski's People United Will Never Be Defeated!

João Carlos Martins recording of Anna Magdalena Notebook and Little Preludes (unfortunately the track names are a bit messed up)

Typically you'll find multiple professional recordings of any somewhat famous piano piece. There's some (most of?) Einaudi, Tiersen, Sakamoto and Glass too.

The "dark side" of Spotify is that the major labels are also major shareholders, and I've heard complaints from small indie labels about their unjust royalties. There are also some region-based limits.

I have some invites if you need one, but really, the paid memberships are very good deals.

It sounds nice but unfortunately the Linux client does not support the free service so that I could test it out. Too bad for them I suppose.
