As a big fan of Kyle's Canon improvisations (he reached now a total of 14... ) I have found that the more I listen to them the more I get to the piano and start improvising on the Canon chords progression myself.

I know this is crazy, I am just a beginner, but it is really funny and relaxing. I try different rythms, different arpeggios, different melodies, both in the left and in the right hand and keep on going for minutes.

Obviously nothing comparable to Kyle's work but a really really nice way to use the piano as a relaxing moment, nothing to learn, nothing to study.. just playing freely smile

Anybody here do something of similar?

A.

I do it pretty frequently as a begginer, but a lot of times I feel I am going nowhere. I just need to slow down. but it's one of the biggest appeals of playing for me, to be able to improvise well.

I also like kyle's work and lately i'm learning a version of the Canon. After im getting it down ill try to do some impro of my own. Canon D seems to me a highly "modular" and tweakable piece. Perhaps the most tweakable of them all..
