My first teacher (whom I've had since 2009) is moving to Ottawa, so she suggested a new one, a former teacher of hers, named Ruth Nieboer. She's a fairly accomplished lady, and boy does she have a sense of humour! I met her today for about an hour for an interview (which was really just a trial lesson), which went very well. I definitely learned a lot in that short hour, which really makes me look forward to the next year or two.
I played Chopin's f minor nocturne for her, and she seemed impressed with my phasing, shading and tempi. She was a bit less impressed with my hand's form and my posture, which she quickly fixed. I also have to rework the fingering of many of my scales, which was slightly awkward.
I suppose I was just sharing my excitement. Good times are ahead, even if my pocket will be a bit less full!

....She was a bit less impressed with my hand's form and my posture, which she quickly fixed.... Wow!  Make sure that the fix 'sticks.' That's probably the hard part!

I'm now paying very close attention to how I sit and position my hands and arms when I practice and play. I found that everything was instantly easier to play once I started raising my wrists, in that it was easier to get precisely the tone I wanted. Her tip about leading with the elbow and rotating the arm slightly made my arpeggios much more legato, too.

I had a similar experience in the past couple weeks. I have been taking Jazz lessons for a while, and decided it's time to switch to classical for a bit.
The new teacher spent quite a bit of time correcting my hand position and bad habits that I've developed over the years. Using these has greatly reduced the tension I feel when I play, allowing me to play more freely.

If I were to guess, I'd say you're playing with the word "impressed," but I don't really get it.

you wrote phasing (the r is missing). There is some kind of ficticious weapon from david's past that uses phasing to kill or stun. Could be from Doctor Who or Star Trek or similar - i am just guessing.
I'm sure he wasn't meaning to be disrespectful, just admittedly lame in the jokes department.
