It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
Do you know something, this is going to sound rather sappy, but I woke up today to freshly falling snow and then, with a cup of tea in my hands, listened to this . . .
Yup, it doesn't get much better.

Recaredo, I can't thank you enough for sharing this. I rarely get to hear any flamenco, let alone Christmas songs. Phenomenal! This inspires me to learn more. My Spanish is extremely limited. However, I think I felt the essence of it. I could feel it in their voices, passion and movement.
Thanks for all the good wishes and enquiries as to how it's all going. Things in Oz going pretty well.
I was particularly pleased with what I was able to achieve with "Dance with me". I had to abandon the Jackson Browne "Looking into you" that I posted the last time. I just can't get it to flow. I worked on "Doctor my eyes" instead (four on the floor style). I counted up, I now have 75 songs that I'm working on in my songbook. "Working on" meaning picking a song from the book as the mood takes me to practice and improve on. Yesterday I worked on "In my life" (sans George Martin solo).
Weather here is warming up. It's 09:30 Sunday morning as I write this and 20 degrees C (68F)outside. When I've done this I'll go out and do some weeding before more practice in the afternoon.
While a summer Christmas is very pleasant, as I was born and bred in the UK I still have to have a hot Christmas Day lunch.

Hey PPP! I like the way you started off your day. Very beautiful. We must have some similar things going on here. The snow just started falling here an hour ago, I was enjoying my cup of tea (green BTW ) and I opened your post. Thanks for sharing this gem.
Good to hear from you Captain K. We must have posted about the same time. I'm impressed with how many songs you're working on. I'm struggling with 4 pieces right now, and am having to put 2 of them aside for a while so that I can focus better.
In fact, I going to take a little time to practice now. I'll be back very shortly.

Thanks you kind sir. Many of these I would now claim to be able to 'play'. I just continue to work at various aspects (eg. fluency). But note, the style I am working on is power chords (root and fifth) in the right hand - or a simple riff a la 'Bring it on home to me' and chords in the right (with very, very occasional fill). All melody is sung. The best way I might describe it it rhythm guitar on a piano or basic rock/pop piano.
See below for what I was working on before lunch. It's not too hard. I've even managed a two note bass part in the middle eight.
Hya dudes and dudettes, it's very easy to get completely lost in computer programs isn't it? what I mean is so engrossed that not only hours but whole days pass, and soon, like me you are not exactly sure what day it actually is...
A quick check of the TV guide coupled with some close scrutiny of the telly led me to believe that it is now Sunday morning, I feel quite confident in that now.
I will definately post some music a little later on today, but for now, back into the program I go, a bit like alice in wonderland it is.
Later.

Good Sunday everyone. It's been a bit of a struggle choosing my Classical Sunday postings today. I've decided to start out with Jessye Norman's performance of "Cäcilie" by Richard Straus with Kurt Masur conducing the New York Philharmonic.
Yesterday I posted a traditional African American Christmas song, "Mary Had a Baby." yesterday's performance was a gospel style presentation of this traditional spiritual by soprano Melissa Davis with the Nathaniel Dett Chorale.
Today's post will be Jessye Norman performing it in the more traditional style. I happen to like both.
Marvellous postings, Griffin! I especially loved Jessye Norman singing “Cäcilie†and that version of “Mary had a Babyâ€.I should listen to this amazing soprano more often. Thanks Griffin!
John williams is excellent isnt he Griffin? I really enjoyed those! First time I heard him was when he did cavatina, the theme from the dear hunter I believe, wow thats seems like a long time ago! Hope everone is well, I am sorry for not being omnipresent, but have been tied up with stuff, but hopefully I should be around more often very soon... later dudes and dudettes!!!
