I've found someone selling a brand new boxed Roland RD-170 for $300. I've been lugging my NP88 between two different rehearsals a week. I've eliminated the need to bring my NP88 to one of the rehearsals by leaving my KS32 at the rehearsal space. I'm thinking of using the RD-170 for the other rehearsal and only using my NP88 for gigs. I hate constantly moving such and expensive DP just for rehearsals.

Is $300 reasonable fora new RD-170 and should it suffice for jazz and rock piano?

I guess piano sound may be enough for rehearsals, though rhodes sound is too artificial for me. It depends on how much is good sound during the rehearsals important for you.

Not sure that helps, sounding good is what I need, sounding great I can leave for the gigs and my NP88.

I think 300$ is pretty low price for what you get, if keyboard is in good condition.
Try check out some YT videos, like these - not perfect, but will give you some info.
