I love No.8 in A Minor (K310) and No.11 in A Major (K331) - but my all time favorite is No.4 (K282) in E flat, the Adagio is so beautiful, it gets me everytime.

What's your favorites?

I'm a big fan of K. 332 in F major (No. 12). Gorgeous slow variation movement and an exhilarating finale, plus a quirky and sprightly Allegro first movement.

No.14 (C minor). I am playing it right now.

Just played through 332 today and thought I should revisit and rework the whole thing. The Mozart Sonatas are a complete gold mine - very easy to underestimate and lots of latitude for interpretation....

Wow! What a hard question, because they're all so brilliant and wonderful. I honestly can't decide.

I have been recently playing the D Major K. 311, and it's just amazing. So amazing. The E flat K. 282 that was mentioned above is also extremely beautiful. They're all perfect.

Mozart is one of my favorite composers!!! And the sonatas are only the beginning: the concerti and operas!!! ZOMG.

That is so true... I think I might have said C minor only because I was just playing it (I was just taking a break when I posted), but every time I play or listen to a Mozart sonata I feel like it is the best...

probably 333, the last movement is an absolute masterpiece. Honorable mention goes to 332mvt1 and of course 545.

Me too! I used to really dislike Mozart, but when I heard this sonata, I liked it so much that I had to learn it, and now I'm working on it and loving it even more! I agree it has one of the more interesting and beautiful slow movements of the Mozart sonatas.

for me K. 333. I also like k 309, although I must say that Mozart's best sonatas are the 2 piano sonata and the piano duet sonata k 521

Variations?

Many of them are great, but 533 has been my favorite for a while. The counterpoint in the 1st mov, the awesome passion and drama of the 2nd mov, and the undeniable Mozart-essence with the awesome cadenza of the 3rd mov... it really isn't performed enough. I'm very partial to 2-piano and 4-hand sonatas as well.

Great answers! How could I forget K545? And the Theme and Variations of K284. Quick question as well, I was having a play through my ABRSM Complete Edition of the Mozart Sonatas. It had the Fantasy before the Piano Sonata in C minor, and despite the Fantasy being described as being in 'C Minor', it had no key signature. I've looked at numerous other editions and it was the same, yet it has every flattened note to suggest C minor, just no key signature. Why is this?

That's a great question! Indeed, why doesn't Mozart use a C minor key signature for this Fantasy, at least in the opening and closing sections? I suspect it has something to do with its being a Fantasy instead of a Sonata movement; something about Fantasies not being grounded in a key in the same way. But if anyone can offer an actually informed answer, I'd love to hear.

I'm glad there's someone else! Haha! I was scared there would be a really obvious answer. I did think what you said, that because it's a Fantasy and doesn't always stick to C minor, but the D minor one is similar and still has a Key Signature.

333, the last movement is like a piano concerto on its own! You can hear the tuttis, piano solo, and there's a cadenza... and all of it is so operatic!

I figured you'd say the 2-piano sonata in D major, K. 448.
