The CS9 looks like a short little K-series upright with the same professional look. Likey. When will it be available in the USA?

gnoboi, you're correct - the CS9 cabinet is based on the appearance of the K-2 acoustic upright. I'm afraid I don't know for certain whether or not this model will be introduced into the US market. My recommendation would be to contact Kawai US and express your interest! Cheers, James x

"Do many pianists buy DPs (or APs) based on the appearance?"
Granted, appearance is not the only consideration. But a piano that doesn't pass muster on looks is out of running, just as it would be if it didn't feel right or didn't sound right. Good appearance is a requirement for me, not an option. me too. I thought for a long time about the hp207 but couldn't stomach the Rosewood colour. I knew that I was going to be keeping my dp in my living room and thus looking at it every day, so the appearance had to be something I was happy with. Andy T Indeed. The old Rosewood on the HP207 was very cheesy. The new shade on the HP307 cannily resembles your everyday IKEA catalogue representative of the new dark brown look. Not an imporvement for some, for others a dream come true.

As far as I am concerned, the CS9 is the must have piano in the whole digital line up: a real and authentic looker with renowned Kawai cabinet build, a great digital piano action and the sound of a real Kawai Concert Grand. Why oh why is the marketing at Kawai so messed up that they publish an official brochure with pianos in it that are not even for sale -- and then absurdly have their distribution channels in the dark and their employees playing pretend games? It appears less and less to be just a matter of incompetence and resembles more institutional schizophrenia.
On the other hand, the K5 ATX is really, really, really the must have piano in the whole upright line up and it is for sale now. Can you say "Millennium III"? Why oh why do I have such expensive taste?

Warning- This thread has been hijacked by Kawai salesman! I presume you're referring to Kawai James? If so, you might want to spend more time here before making that assertion. KJ works for Kawai as a tech writer. He's not a salesman, neither by profession nor by deed. In his posts, he'll offer information on Kawai products, but he's as likely to offer advice on, and make recommendations for, other brands as he is for Kawai products. His actions here don't merit your "WARNING". He's quite fair-minded and unbiased.
