Where to find a used Estonia 190?

Hoping to find a used Estonia. I understand that there was a qualitative leap after the year 2000. How hard is it to find a used one on the East Coast? and how much should one pay?

Thanks.

and Craigslist.

Also, I'd call dealers... those whose sell Estonias and those that don't. They might have a used Estonia taken as a trade in or know of another dealer who has one.

HA! Ya, call them all! ha

Seriously, yes, call them all, local or not. It is easy to travel and easy to ship.

Crispus,

You could ask directly if anyone here has a used or floor model 190 to sell - or knows of one that's for sale. You might get lucky and find a prospective private seller.

Dealers here are often reluctant to self-promote, but would likely respond to such a direct inquiry by sending you a PM.

Of course, you might want to be careful in how you phrase your inquiry. If it's too general, you could be swamped with offers - mostly for pianos that are "better" than 190's or "as good as" 190's but at a better price.

Good luck in your hunt.

Crispus,

Estonias seem to have something of a reputation as a players piano and those who bought them did so because they loved the instrument. Add to that the fact that the company has never made more than 400 pianos per year total and it seems the market for used Estonias is going to be pretty slim. I just looked on Pianomart and there are used Estonias there, but the prices being asked aren't that much less than what a new one would cost. If you've found a new one you like then that may be the best way to go.

Chrispus,

Where are you in PA? If you are within any reasonable distance to Philly, a call or PM to Rich Galassini at Cunningham is in order. I seem to recall Rich had more than one Estonia on the floor when we first stopped there. I particularly recall a "Hidden Beauty" model that was quite nice.

He is good people.

I agree! If I had been anywhere near his place of business, I would have surely stopped in!

Kurt the master tech from Rich's (Cunningsham) fixed it. He replaced some strings and voiced it.

I now need the cash.

Plus it has over 7 years left on the transferable warranty.

Mark,

Are you sure about this? This issued was discussed here before.
Estonia pianos' website says the warranty is non transferable:

This factory warranty is to the first purchaser of the instrument.

I could of sworn it was transferable. But you are correct. I must of thought of Kawai. I'll have to discount it some more then...I corrected my original post.

I will chime in and suggest a trip to Cunningham Piano Company in Philadelphia. A friend of mine who is a pianist tried out a gently used Estonia there, and it was magnificent. While this was some time ago, at least it provides evidence that Rich does get some used Estonias in stock, and that they are excellent!

The only reason I would ever consider getting rid of my L-190 is to trade up to the new 225.
