Hello, everyone, I'm Wayne from sheffield Uk. I was handed down my nanan's piano nearly 2 years ago, and have been teaching myself since, although it's a slow process. I like to play modern music, like lady gaga, christina aguilara, rihanna, adele, etc. I've been posting my videos to youtube, and had a few encouriging comments and some bad, I know ive a long way to go, but i love my piano, it's actually quite addictive! Many'a time Ive needed help, so I'm so glad to have found this forum, and hopefully the members will help me if i need it. I think i will have a go at some classic pieces at some point, I can just about read sheet music now, omg was so hard at first, I didnt even know what a flat or sharp was then, and I have got loads of music what my nan left, bach, franz ferdinand (is that right), shubert etc anyway, just wanted to say hello, speak soon!

Wayne,
Welcome from the colonies! You're going to enjoy this forum. There are tons of helpful people posting here day and night (sometimes to the point that one has to wonder when they actually practice the piano). There's support, advice, humor--and a few grouches. But very very few of those.
You're going to have a great time here.

I'm getting there--note by note.

Welcome to the forum, Wayne! I'm sure your nanan would be or is very happy to see her piano being so well-loved and oft-played. smile

Thnx for the warm welcome guys, and @Monica, unfortunately my nan passed away on christmas day, her piano playing was mentioned in the service at her funeral which i thought was nice! My nan promised the piano to me ever since i was little, she'd play it for me when i went up at weekends, its only a straight strung piano from around 1920's, but i love it regardless, Ive given the piano a make-over, and uploaded some pics if you're interested. x

Wayne,
Looks like a fine instrument!

When you say you've given it a make-over, what did you do? Cosmetic stuff, technical stuff (voicing, etc.)?
