Could someone give me some information on Kroeger pianos. There is a 1919 6'2" grand, second owner for sale in my area for $2000.
Thanks!

Here's one bit I know of off hand.http://antiquepianoshop.com/online-museum/kroeger/
I have a Gildemeester & Kroeger upright.

I'll figure it out eventually.
Until then you may want to keep a safe distance.

Hi Craig,

According to Pierce's Piano Atlas:

Kroeger Piano Co., Est. 1852, in Stamford, CT. Later moved to New York City, NY, with office at 27 Cedar Street. Taken over by Kohler & Campbell in the mid 1920's. Kroeger grand pianos are the same a Brambach after 1924. Also used the names Gildemeester-Kroeger; Gildemeester, Kroeger & Kroeger & Sons, New York.

Also according to Pierce's, it appears that serial numbers associated with Kroeger Piano Co. began in 1880, and the last year was 1957.

Under "Kroeger", Pierce's also refers the reader to Kohler & Campbell after 1957, however the only references are to Brambach and "Kroger" (no 'e'); as well as other trade names.

If the piano you refer to was manufactured in 1919, the serial number would have 5 digits and begin with "62".

If you're considering purchasing the piano in your thread, it is very cheap insurance to pay a qualified technician to complete a hands on evaluation for you, to assist in your decision.

I don't know how much help this is, but it's a bit a history for you. smile
