NP882...just kidding. wink Perhaps for us NP88 owners, Nord releases a new Shigeru-Kawai EX or Fazioli F308 sample. smile

I would think we could see the FP-4F with the Ivory Feel-G keybed of the RD-300NX. I think Yamaha may launch or display something new-maybe something in league of the FP-7F. Of course with summer NAMM just 3 months away (which I'll be attending here in Nashville) many of the options I listed above would/could be launched there instead.

A new range of Casio Privias?
A replacement for the P155?
An FP-4F?

Lots to look forward to!

Maybe we'll see a new Nord Electro 4, with 360+MB of RAM, the new C2 organ engine, etc. That'd be cool.

ZacharyForbes, I believe the Electro3 will be updated/revised to use a 76-key piano action. At least, I hope so...

Coker, I'm predicting that there will be a selection of new Kawai models announced at Messe. wink

As for the NE3, that'd be just cool actually, and maybe bump up the RAM on it as well. Do a sort of Nord Electro 3 EX so to speak.

As for the Kawai releases...an MP10-lite??? smile

It turns out that I need organ/synth/strings capabilities, so I'm either going to opt for the Nord Electro 3 or the trade my NP88 back in to the dealer who would give about what I paid for it, and pay the difference for the Nord Stage 2. I'm curiously awaiting to see what Nord is going to announce tomorrow, or this week... cool

My thinking is if I needed organ/synth and strings I would go with a second tier and use my motif or get a kronos. Seems like those are more flexible then a NS2.

Yeah, I really don't wanna get rid of the NP88, but it will come down to what will cost less-go with the NE3 or trade in the NP88 and go with the NS2.

It depends what one is looking for.

For organ, it's a judgement call as to whether you prefer the "Nord C2" built into the Stage 2 or the "Korg CX3" built into the Kronos, which also has the virtue of faders that are closer to real drawbars in operation. The motif has some nice organ sounds, but doesn't really have the full tonewheel organ emulation of the other two.

For synth, the Stage 2 gives you the most hands-on "knobby" interface; the Kronos would probably be second most immediate, but would also probably be the most versatile; the Motif is generally not considered friendly for real-time synth manipulation.

For strings, it's a matter of whose sounds you like best. Yamaha has a reputation for particularly good acoustic/orchestral instruments, though there are some nice sounds in the Nord sound library, including those Mellotron and Chamberlin samples. I've never really warmed to Korg's strings, but we'll have to see how the Kronos fares here.

Overall, for any given size keyboard, the Nord will probably weigh the least, if that's an issue.

All three are good choices, with different strengths. Personally, I'd probably go with the Korg for organ (Nord second), Nord for synth (Korg second), and Yamaha for strings (Nord second). The only one there that comes up in 1st or 2nd place for each category is the Nord! Though that doesn't necessarily make the choice that simple, as I don't necessarily weigh the importance of all three categories equally, nor is the distance between first and second place always the same. But the point is... there are lots of reasons people could go with any of them. You could toss Kurzweil in there too.

So will we know all of the new releases (if any) from Casio, Korg, Kawai, etc. by tomorrow? Or will we have to wait until the end of the show, etc.?? I'm very intrigued since Namm was pretty disappointing this year!!

Voxpops has a link to a video that shows the Nord backdrop at musikmesse and it's showing an improved Nord Electro 3.

Just saw Korg is releasing a new piano.
As well as Roland upgrades its FP4 -> FP4F

Depending which board they get.. also ivory feel.. in that case... I wonder what the benefits of getting a fp7f is over an fp4f... if they got the same touch and sound.
