What do you do for the first lesson after the student's piano exam? We do not have the test results nor the judge's comment sheet to pass back.

Sight reading and practicing new repertoire in the lesson. Duets. Extending their technical requirements (if they had to play the A scale 2 octaves, we do 3). Etc.

I'd certainly talk about how they felt about their performance briefly, then I'd move on to new rep. Kids always love picking out new stuff after these events.

I think the first lesson after an exam should be a fun lesson, playing songs of the pupils choice, and maybe do something different like some songwriting, or record a favourite song onto CD that they like to play. smile
