I just picked up first lessons in bach. At the top of this minuet in g minor it says dotted half note=63. What does that mean? I'm only used to playing to quarter note or eighth note clicks.

It means that you should be playing on the "one" of every measure after a 63-beat.

II. As in, second best.
Only lowercase. So not even that.

Yeah i kinda got it figured but to put that into a click with quarter notes like im used to id have to multiply 63x3 for 3 quarter notes being in a dotted half and that equals 189 bpm in quarter notes. Thats insane i doubt he played it that fast. or he probly did. i dunno this is when it gets confusing for me usually the rhythm part cause i was never good with numbers or math

Bach never wrote any metronome markings. That means the editor of your book, not necessarily Bach, wants you to play that fast.

I think 135 = quarter note, around there, is a good speed.

No, but you answered your own question here:

ll's suggestion of 135 is about what my teacher told me to try for (120). Like Frozenicicles said Bach didn't specify a bpm.
