There is to be said, in favor of January 27 as a birthday, that once the baby is big enough to take it outside and the mother feels up to it, the weather is nice enough to do it. And mothers add, it's nicer to have the hardest part of the pregnancy when the weather is at least cool.

So: congratulations Wolfgang A. Mozart, b. Jan. 27, 1756 (d. 1791), and Charles Dodgson--- better known as Lewis Carroll; less known for his day job as a mathematics professor--- b. Jan. 27, 1832, (d. 1898).

What a nice day to drag all the Mozart pieces to the "play" column, and read some selections from "Through the Looking Glass."

Bon appetit.

Alice in Wonderland and the such always left me slightly perturbed...

All theory, dear friend, is grey, but the golden tree of life springs ever green.

Not only was he the son of a parson, he was also ordained in the Church of England, though he never practised.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

With 15 minutes left to spare! (In my time zone, anyway)
