Hey all,
I figured since NAMM is beginning tomorrow and there will be tons of product announcements, maybe we could use this thread as one where all of the folks there could update us on any new digital pianos that are on display at NAMM that will be released this year. I myself know very little about all of these model incarnations and would really appreciate people posting all of the new digital piano models released in one place like this so we can all discuss what's coming up and maybe compare the release models to past ones, etc. Even just a list of new models (if there are any) would be really great for reference!

So excited!!!

From reading the Yamaha packet on here earlier- it looked like no update to the P95 which was a release.

Not entirely a piano but a workstation, Korg has a Kronos workstation that has 4GB of 8 layer German samples (assumed to be a Steinway D)

So the RD300NX has a new Ivory Feel G keyboard...I wonder how that compares to the PHA II and PHA III Ivory Feel keys. I also noticed it has the ability to use the RPU-3 which an nice added bonus for piano players. Looks like a strong competitor to the CP50.

This new RD-300NX ticks so many boxes...SN, Sound Focus, SN EPs, Ivory keys with escapement, light weight, full pedal functionality, lower price (than other Rolands). Will be interesting to see what the key action is really like...the 300GX action is not very nice in my opinion.

But one major gripe....they still have that pitch bend/mod control in the same stupid place...Roland stage pianos are just too long (or wide, depending on your view) because of these controls.

Cheers,

Steve

The RD300NX would be a compelling keyboard for me Steve...if it weren't for the Nord Piano! laugh In all honesty though, it is a very impressive little keyboard. I'm most intrigued in the Ivory Feel G keys/action. I knew they wouldn't put the PHA III Ivory in it, but I expected the PHA II.

It's a 16% heavier this time and it's still a little long. Though Fp-4F is a matter of time.

For a workstation/ masterkeyboard Kronos looks rather impressive !! If only they would use a better keybed. Still RH3 ; you can already see the unevenness in the close-ups in de demo video on their website. What a waste for such a very nice piece of equipment. Perhaps they should borrow some keybeds from KAWAI or Roland if they can't manage to figure out (or care ?!) to make a good one themselves. I also wonder how the Roland G-keys will hold up to the PHA-III and others...

Kind of disappointed. I'm still waiting for a simple digital piano with great feel and just a couple of piano sounds. I don't need anything else smile

Well then look no further than here:

It's why I've decided to jump ship to the Nord. Go here http://www.clavia.se/main.asp?tm=Home and listen to the new Bosendorfer Imperial sample. All I can say is, wow.

Although, I've only got about 2 hours total behind one, Dave Ferris and EssBrace could give a much better analysis, but, I would rate it behind the RD700NX and slightly behind the CP5. However, the action connects with the sound to me is very very good though. There is something very organic, about the NP. The action is by no means bad. It's a good solid piano action and is capable of playing quite demanding pieces.

*note this wasn't played on the new Bosie Imperial sample.

My guess would be a Fatar action.

V-Piano Grand and RD-300NX both look like very strong products.

Cheers,

Since the 300NX will probably come in at half the price of a Nord Stage 2, it will be a very interesting product to watch. The video didn't blow me away, but then I've not yet seen a Roland vid that does anything other than leave me wondering.

I think it will all depend on the quality and playability of the new G keybed of the rd300nx. Hope some people will find out soon. If it's crap then the mP6 will still be the winner, if it's very good however , then it will be a though contender for all competition in that price range.

To bad the nord piano costs anywhere from $600- $1000 more than the mp6. If it was more in the price range of the Kawai I would have a hard time deciding between the two.

What do you guys think the price will be for the Roland RD300NX? It looks like it could be a great dp.
