I think that's exactly it.

Consoles have downward-facing speakers, enclosed in nothing more than the keyboard box. Not good.

The mini-grands that I've tried have upward-facing speakers. Not sure about the speaker baffles, though.

Digital Grands have both up and down facing speakers.

I didn't notice that.

What about the speaker baffles? Are they any better than on the mainstream consoles?
