I found this while looking for info about the N1:

http://www.musictrades.com/NewProducts.pdf

Does anybody know more, especially about the action?

For a $10,000 premium, I'd have to take a very strong look at the Roland RG-3F. It is a nice looking instrument though. I'd love to test drive it.

That's probably $10,000 list, not street price.

My N3 was € 19+ I believe and I paid considerably less.

Dave,

You think one could possibly get the N1 for around $7,000 or so?

That was the number that was going through my mind. Everything at this point is just speculation, right?

$7000 would be 30% off of list price. Sounds do-able. You might even press for 35% off.

the marketing blurb sounds very coy on the piano action...quote "The AvantGrand N1 also offers realistic piano action." Shouldn't it be saying "genuine" piano action?

Is it going to get a real action, or something like the Clavinovas? $9999 RRP sounds very low for a genuine grand action piano.

That article wasn't written by Yamaha, was it? I'd wait until it's formally displayed at the Yamaha web site.

Let's hope that they fixed the software on it, and that now it remembers more settings between power cycles (e.g. piano touch, vibration system, etc..).
If not, I will have to wait... frown

What are the street prices on N2's and N3's?

How did you arrive at that?

I assume the N1 has the same action as my N3, that's just an assumption. If you can buy a real grand piano for $10,000 replete with 230 strings, a cast iron harp and a wooden case shaped to perfection, I think Yamaha can come up with a grand piano action in a MDF cabinet without strings and a cast iron harp for less, don't ya think?

I also thought the preview was interesting in that it said realistic piano action, not "real" piano action. I wonder if I'm reading into it or if it really is different. I guess the world will know next week. Actually there is a lot of cool new stuff in that article.

My guess is that the N1 is more like the GranTouch - a real grand piano action, an excellent piano sample, a basic sound system and not much more.

This would be my guess as well.
