It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
This is a Christmasy, beautiful song that George Winston plays. I am going to order this for my student. As far as I can tell there are two available, one for solo piano and one for voice and piano.
Does anyone play this? It's such a nice song. (I'm also thinking my 10 year old friend could sing this while her sister plays).
accompanist/organist.. a non-MTNA teacher to a few
There are two piano versions, the full version and an easy piano version, both published by Faber. The easy version is very nice and is around the grade 1 level.
apple, the George Winston arrangement (minus the long middle section that he plays on the album) is available in his sheet music collection. I'd recommend getting that one; the Howard Blake version isn't as nice, imo. And then you'd have all the other George Winston pieces to play.
I've been meaning to make a recording of the Winston version to post on the ABF holiday performance thread, but I've been too busy. Maybe next week after finals are over.
Have you seen the film, apple? (The Snowman, animated film based on the picture book by Raymond Briggs.) The score by Howard Blake (including Walking in the Air) is beautiful. My kids had the video and loved it - so did I, though I was apt to cry at the end I think your idea of having the pair of them sing/play is great. It's not too hard at all to sing.
I submitted this to a Holiday Piano bar here years ago, before the George WInston book was published. There was an unauthorized transcription floating around the internet that has a bridge that isn't available in the GW book.
This is my imperfect recording if you're interested.
This is a little different than the George Winston version, but not by much. (I got a copy from Jh8812 by emailing him.) I have the original Howard Blake version, but like these others better.
This piece is more or less what got me into learning piano earlier this year. I was not familiar with the animated cartoon at all, but fell in love with the music.

I'll second this having bought the George Winston version last year on Monica's recommendation There's a number of really nice pieces such as Carol of the Bells and two other pieces from The Snowman.
Haven't gotten around to learning it yet though, I think I'll set it as my goal for next year and work it into my practice schedule if I ever sort out a schedule

Do you still have the piece? If so any chance you could upload just the bridge section? I've got the george winston version in his piano solos book but it is missing that section and i quite liked how your recording sounds with it in
