It is obvious that Yamaha noticed they needed to
come up with something to match the Chinese
48"s but they wanted to be able to keep the
higher priced U1. So putting the U1 in a 47" box
and trying to fool people with the T118 was the
answer. I wonder if it just happened to have a
thinner sound or if they decided to put on lighter
strings etc. to have the U1 better. I would like to see Kawai make their 47" K3 like the 506N without the music rack under the lid and with the wood finishes.
