Hi everyone,

Have just finished recording what will be the first (and, premier) performance of the CVS Pharmacy "on hold" music, as this is the intricate piece that you will hear playing (if you are put on hold) when calling the Pharmacy.

As far as I know, no one else has ever played this particular piece (as it requires decent notation from a well done transcription), and I am now the first one to have recorded it, in its original arrangement with "strings and piano."

And, for anyone who might have previously dismissed this piece as just a boring bit of background music, you might want to listen again more closely this time, as it is not as easy to play as one might think.

The L.H. part is quite involved throughout, and it is certainly very classical in style, with soaring / lyrical melodic lines, as well. I have recorded the piece with a "Strings+Piano" setting, on the Casio AP-620.

However, any comments regarding the playing are always welcome:

And, here is the original CVS performance, for comparison:

EXTRA NOTE:

This performance is also a personal tribute to a great composer, who wrote a lot of original piano pieces with a unique style and character of their own, as this was James Romeo, who owned Romeo Music International. He passed away just a few years ago from complications of Lou Gehrig's disease, also known as ALS.

Born in 1955, died in 2002; however, the music will live on.

Thanks for sharing that pv88, I thought it sounded great. How did you record it?

And, thanks for the compliment...

Very easy, just used a cable from the line out on the AP-620 to the computer's line in, and the free "Audacity" program for the Mac. It works pretty well with capturing the layered sounds, from the AP-620.

Nicely done! ... and nice choice of sound - piano with a string layer.

Thank you for recording this piece. It is so beautiful. I recently was on hold for CVS and fell in love with the music. I was searching online to find where I could buy the piano music and came across your forum. Someone had also drafted out the sheet music for this and I cannot find it again. Was it you or someone else from the piano forum? I also play the flute and was playing along with your mp3. Love it!!!

@Renee,

Here is the original sketch (i.e., lead sheet) I did by ear myself as it only contains the melody line, primarily:

Thanks again for this. This is perfect for just the flute part.

Hi PV88, great job. Do you have the MIDI file for your recording? I'd love to play it back on my Clavinova.
