Here's the--reputedly--fastest version of The Flight Of The Bumblebee.

I've heard that scientists say the Bumblebee should not be able to fly. Due to it's weight and wing size, I suppose.

Is anyone supposed to be this fast on the piano?

I don't know if it was faster, but Cziffra certainly played it better...

No, that is not supposed to be physically possible. This is clearly a rip in continuum of reality, resulting in an anomaly of physics.

Anything you can play, I can play faster.
As a piano teacher once told me in class: I simply don't understand you, the harder it gets, the faster you go.

Look at the body language of the lady in pink with glasses on the right part of your screen.
She is sitting there asking; what am I doing here?

This kind of acts give me mix-emotions in one hand I admire the ability of the player on the other hand musically leaves me in limbo. I always found useless put that many hours of practice into a circus act.

Talking about her...

her performance of Etude 10/4 by Chopin is at least... different.

For me in bumblebee musicality is sacrificed for speed. It turns it into an exercise. I switched off half way through because once I had seen the speed I thought "Impressive. Enough of that. Now, how about some music?".

Currently playing 2017 C212 with carbon fibre soundboard, WNG action. Working on Bach, Beethoven, Grieg mainly.

If never ceases to amaze me that pieces written out can be played so fast if worked out and of course a lot of talent to go with it.

But it does not satisfy as much as Bud Powell improvising something twice as fast and more complex chords while doing it.

Art Tatum was another one who could play stuff fast on an upright which would be thought to be impossible back then, gravity issue.

I still think it's harder to play something slower and expressive.

Cziffra is definitely one of my favorites. I just listened to his version and it is very fast. His is more musical.

Nothing wrong with a few pieces that challenge the speed of the instrumentalist.

A piece with a beautiful melody played with great expressiveness is what I, and I think most people, enjoy most. Music at it's best.

Like3 I said. Cziffra played it faster. It's very easy to get out the metronome and clock both versions.
