This really needs to be repeated! It's so true. After HT is mostly down, HS can be a way to push the tempo up past the last little bit. It can be a way figure out, and cement, what you want to do with phrasing.

Also, it can be a great memory-builder/memory-checker. We get so used to playing HT, then we try to jump in at some random spot, HS, and if we can't do it, that's one sign that this is a spot we don't know as well as we thought we did!
