Okay. I know there is no official mention of the Roland FP4F to date, but it seems likely it will happen. Considering the FP7 and the FP4 share the same piano as the main piano in the RD-700SX (I believe) it stands to reason that the FP4F should exist and contain the same piano as the FP7F.

Do you think this is a realistic prediction and if so, when is it likely to rear it's head? I have no memory of the original release dates of the FP7 or the FP4 so I don't know which came first and the days/months in between their release..

Regards. Rimmer

Good call, but I can't see anything being announced before NAMM 2011.

Cheers,

The other keyboard one might expect would be the rd-300nx.
Though maybe it's time for an updated proper portable stage piano. Maybe an rd-400nx or something like that. I think there would be a market for a more portable version version of the 700nx - knock off the joy-stick and make it an 82 key version. No joystick and 6 less keys would make make a significant difference in length.

Does anyone know if there are any 82 key keyboards out there? I think it's rare that I'd need the 3 notes on either end of an 88 keyboard, but cutting down to 76 keys takes away too much.

Cool. I'm sort of resigned to waiting until Jan/Feb to purchase anyway so that might work out well..!

The thing I like about the FP4 is it's tiny size. I'd prefer a huge piano at home but I just don't have the space for one. I'd like something I could drag up and down to the studio. My car (Volvo C70 T5) is quite a big car but you can't fit anything in to it at all. I think I could squeeze an FP4f in to it.. thumb

Interesting. The biggest think I don't like about the RD700 is it's length. My business partner has the 700SX and it's sooo long. It's a shame they haven't figured a way of putting that whammy bar and mod somewhere else. I like your thinking..!

Or, if reducing the length isn't possible, hows about they trade the joystick for 9 more keys down there, slap in a Bosendorfer Imperial (SN of course), and call it the RD-700BI? I'd be all over that.

Or they could put in a clam detector - maybe a little guy who pops up to the left of the keyboard and does a little jig every time you play a wrong note. RD-700BUM
