What is scary is that early bird submissions are only 2 weeks away!

Hmmm will for sure be submitting an Einaudi piece. Now do I brush up the other older ones or submit the one I just finished... (decisions decisions)

- Primavera
- La Nascita Delle Cose Segrete (already used but need to get Acoustic recording)
- I giorni (LOVE this piece)

OR try to get my Xmas Song finished!!

I got me a new Zoom H1 on the way. Now to find a bit of time to record!

You sure did, Sam. So much so that I may just take off work early today to squeeze in some quality time with the Zoom. I had my tech come in this week to regulate and voice my piano, and it has never sounded better. Wish I could say the same about me! crazy

I have two possible pieces I can use for the recital. Whichever one gives me the best take is what I'm going to go with.

October is country-western month at one of my senior venues, so I've been learning things from my big CW book. I'd guess one of those will be what I submit, but it's always a crap shoot with me :\ One piece I thought would be a week's process, like Sail Along was, but that was three weeks ago laugh (Sail Along has come a long ways, too). I'm taking a keyboard with me this weekend up to CO Springs so I can practice.

Actually, it wasn't scary because for once I'd already started on something!

I might submit a piece, assuming I am allowed to use the Uni's practice rooms. The email I got said they were for music tech students and that I should ask in the building. I'm in there next week for a lecture, so I will find out then.

Just wondering, is this the "official" recital chatter thread?. I've got lots to talk about!

Sure seems official to me!

True to my word, I skated home half an hour early today and got one take with 3 moderate bloopers of my recital piece. If I had to, I could submit it and not wince too badly, and now I have 4 weeks to try to get a better one...

I'm seriously considering treating this recital like a non-virtual recital. You know - warm up a little, turn on the recorder, sit down and play my piece. No endless retakes that just seem to get worse. It is what it is, mistakes and all.

I actually put in a bit of time on my recital piece this afternoon. I'm not sure if it was the internal clock reminding me to get in gear or the upcoming Einaudi concert tomorrow. Maybe it was a little bit of both. smile

I started on a piece pretty early but then got sidelined for a while with a cold followed up with a bit of sinus infection which now seems to be pretty much winding down. I'm glad it is nearly over since I was quite the coughing machine for a while. I was worried about the supply of cough drops I'd be needing for the piano concert!

Well I just submitted my recital piece but it is for the "Chopin" recital in a couple of days.

Since that formerly stuffy group finally let me in (after 2 years of pestering) I feel I should promote that event too. Sort of like a giant inflatable ape on the roof of a car dealer!

Anyway that's done now so I must work hard whipping something up for our upcoming recital.

I've got a whole series of improv pieces I may work on and whatever seems to work I'll submit. I've got a few weeks to hammer things out.

I might give myself a max of 3 tries - best out of three.
Or... cold turkey - 1 shot, like I did last time.

This will be my first recital on my acoustic...though I'll be using the digital option for recording..... how weird is that? lol.
I know which piece I'm going to do - smile
I've been working on it for a while now.

Now that is a scary thought! The thought alone would probably trash my piece... intriguing none the less.

Sam
- I did that for the last recital - it was quite liberating.

Hmm, I'm practicing Tim Richards Blues book, so it will be blues or maybe a simple classical piece, if I can get it right in 3 weeks.
