Hi there,

Yesterday I helped my son-in-law moving the furniture of his mother. Somewhere in the house we found this instrument.

It looks to me as a small reedorgan combined to a kind of vacuum cleaner grin But after all a funny thing.

Questions:
Does somebody knows from which period this instrument will be? My thoughts 1940? 1950?
Is this plastic cabinet worth something?
Is it very special? etc.

Interesting and fun. I've never seen or heard of these before. That web site says they're not particularly valuable and there's even quite a few around! The web site owner collects and sells them on. No midi so we can't get Dewster to DPBSD it. Could be a good thing smile

It seems a shame to just throw it out if you don't want it. Maybe a local music school, museum, historic house, etc would welcome it?

Thanks for sharing.

Still the question is it worth something? When I read the post of Spanishbuddha it is something special.

I'm curious about it. confused

I've seen one of these before. Same kind of situation too, grandmother's house. It was a 60's vintage electric organ. very cheaply build compared to even the lowest priced Hammond. No they have nearly zero resale value, if you could even sell it. If it's light weight and plastic it is a 60's or 70's vintage if more wood and weighs a ton and has vacuum tubes inside it is older. Older units would have great salvage value. Even Hammonds, unless they are one of the preferred models of tone wheel organs have little value. I paid $50 for the last Hammond F100 and after getting it to more or less work and make noise promptly dismantled it for parts.

It looks like it could be a model 670 (or similar, with 6 major and 6 minor chord buttons), made predominantly of plastic and sold in the '70s. Magnus organs seem to fetch anything from $10 to $60 on ebay in the US. They are very similar to the Italian Bontempi models that plagued music shops in the UK during the '70s. They sound horrible, but maybe have some sort of retro-chic appeal to some people.

If it were me, I'd consider giving it to a local kindergarten or school. Although I'd be more tempted to stage a ceremonial burning.

Play it. Does it inspire you, or is it a toy? I've seen a bunch of these, play too many notes and they asthmatically poop out.

Nothing to see here, but most likely in 50 years people will be killing each other over them.

Craigslist. It costs you nothing to list it there. If you make the price low enough some one will take it.

Anything can happen in the music world. The B-52's used a toy piano on their breakout album--- what was the tune... "Dance This Mess Around," I think.
