There are so many - what do you want to do? What can you already play?

EDIT: I don't know you, so I don't know if you are a teacher or a student.

If you're a teacher, then the question is almost the same: "What does your student want to do? What can your student already play?"

Technique books don't teach technique. Teachers do. The books are only a resource for what must certainly be demonstrated.

There are a lot of different opinions about technique books, what is good and what is wasting time.

Sorry for more questions: What music do you play? What music would you like to play next?

EDIT: I agree with Minniemay that a good teacher is far better than a hundred books, and you should get a teacher. But intelligent use of books is almost always better than nothing.

That's good - but what are some things you already play very well?

Czerny, Op. 599 and Op. 636
Burgmuller, Op. 100 and Op. 109
Heller, Op. 45 and Op. 47
MacDowell, Op. 39 and Op. 46
Moszkowski, Op. 72

And by then you're ready for Chopin Etudes.

You are still quite a long ways from Chopin etudes. At this stage, you really need to work with a teacher.
