I haven't laughed harder in my life. Imagine him doing the Chopin Etude Op. 10 No. 3 or the Ravel Pavane for a dead princess. Or the Schumann Toccata!! wink It would sound terrible it would be hilarious!

If he ever learns the Ravel Tocatta you're in big trouble.

I just knew you'd be all over this thread. wink

Maybe I could play the piano part to Schubert's "Gretchen am Spinrade" (I've played that song before) and he plays the melody of what the vocalist would sing!

Brilliant performance! Carey, looks like total concentration to me!...

gsmonks--I almost spit out my mouthful of millet at your beans comment! Can you post a recording?

And the saw! What was that t-bar thing he was using to control the pitch? Ah-ha! So that's the secret!!!

A musical saw isn't something you can just buy at a hardware store, doncha know? It's a specialised instrument that comes with a gig bag and everything!

http://www.sawlady.com/DifferentSaws.htm

Here's the slide sax (made by Swanee), which was a fad in the 20's and 30's. You might recognise the sound from old cartoons.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POzJoi463UI

Here's another oddball that got used in 20's and 30's cartoon sound-tracks:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieb5IDnXV8o&feature=related

Here's a Sarussophone that belongs to a friend of mine- Phil Holcomb of Phil's Rugs 'n' Relics

It's supposed to be played with its own double-reed mouthpiece, but the contrabassoon mouthpiece doesn't do a bad job. Some jazz guys play the alto and tenor sarrussophone. They're being made again.

Y'know . . . I've been studying this guy's face and body-language, and I don't think the sound is coming from his hands . . . notice how he has to lean to one side?
