I dont know who added the photo but i didnt see this photo of liszt before this is probably the first photo of liszt taken in 1843 he is 32 years old here. Also this photo is former than Chopin's 1846 photo and 1849 photo. Incredible!

I could stare at that for hours. Here is the man who would eventually give us Funérailles, Benediction, the piano concertos, the final version of the TEs, the B minor Sonata... masterpiece after masterpiece. Awesome.

What a fantastic photo. Yes he really was a handsome man for his time! Wow. Look at those hands. Its like the hands of god. Hehe.
Looks like he had a lot of wealth too. Nice expensive clothing. Chopin's photos dont look as nice, and his clothing didn't seem as elaborate. just maybe timing or choice of clothing at the time.

They can't show his hands in detail, because the well-kept sectret of Liszt's sensational playing is that he had 7 fingers on each hand. IT MUST BE TRUE! His left thumb sure looks large! And his right hand seems to have a lot of space! 7 fingers it must be! ahaha.

Chopin sure spent a lot of time whining about how expensive all his fine clothing cost. And gloves. And carriages.... I guess it was the price he had to pay to mingle in all those salons, playing music for the rich folks.

From Wikipedia/Daguerrotype: The French Academy of Sciences announced the daguerreotype process on January 9, 1839. Later that year William Fox Talbot announced his calotype. Together, these inventions mark 1839 as the year photography was invented. So, when this photograph was made, photography was only four years old!

Chopin sure spent a lot of time whining about how expensive all his fine clothing cost. And gloves. And carriages....
Basically a princess who also wined about how bad the music of Beethoven, Schumann and Liszt was. I guess it was the price he had to pay to mingle in all those salons, playing music for the rich folks. And never teaching anyone of much importance... at least not in the grand scheme of things... and nothing compared to Liszt. If Mikuli had never existed, history would not be much different. A sourpuss who got the last laugh...

I guess that means Liszt was on the cutting edge, pretty much, and up on all things new??? Including his own music!

Really? I always thought he got most of his clothes from George's closet. Mel

Chopin is the most charismatic guy i ever seen. Chopin's 1849 photo is more mysterious than every photos both are good looking guys but Chopin is different. His clothes and hair always elaborate but he was very ill at the time and he cant think his appearance.

Liszt was a much flashier dresser than Chopin who while he liked to be in style was very conservative in his taste. I personally think that in that last best known photograph of Chopin he was wearing the overcoat to disguise how thin and frail he'd become. And perhaps for warmth as well as he felt cold all the time by then. BTW - the Liszt dag, while not well known, isn't totally out of the blue. I've seen it reproduced in at least one biography before now. It is authentic. And like everyone else, I wish they'd done a better job showing his hands.
Slow down and do it right.
