Hi,
has anybody found a review of new Roland LX-10F?

I'd really want to know difference between older version (LX-10) and comparison with Yamaha CLP380.

Sorry, but your question is not clear. Do you want to compare the LX-10F with the CLP380 or do you want to compare the LX-10 with the CLP380?

It's an upgrade of the LX-10 with the new SuperNATURAL sound, and also PHA-III instead of PHA-II which is supposed to increase the response rate with rapid repetitions. I haven't been able to discover any difference in practice between PHA-II and III yet, not that I have a lot of experience with either, though, but the SuperNATURAL sound is a big step up from the previous Roland sound.

As for a comparison with Yamaha, I think you'll just have to try them both - it boils down to personal preference regarding touch and tone.

I really liked the look of LX-10, looks much nicer in real life than on Rolands web site. smile I hope they've fixed the score stand, though, with the F model. The original one is so deep that you can't turn the pages. Stupid.

Ole

Oh, but regarding reviews. It's got the same keybed and sound engine as Roland HP-307 which is probably much easier to find reviews of.

yes i'd like to compare Yamaha CLP 380 with new Roland LX-10F but i found no full reviews on internet
Today i went to a top music event and i visited Roland, Kawai and Yamaha stands.
I tried lot of pianos like Kawai Ca93 and Ca63, Roland VPiano, Roland HP307, Roland LX-10Black (not F!!), Yamaha Avant Grand N2/N3, Yamaha CP1/5/50, Clavinova CLP380, Modus F11/H11. But there was no LX-10F at all and i think it's not available in italy yet at the moment.
After different considerations (budget, sound feeling, mechanic keyboard, look...) i was very pleased with Clavinova CLP380 and 2nd place Roland LX-10 but before buying i just wanted to know more about Roland LX-10F.

I would also like to know if the PHA-III keyboard is less noisy in the LX-10F the same way it is less noisy in the V-Piano as compared to in the HP-307.

I agree PHA III is quieter in V-Piano than HP-307. Would be interesting to know about other Rolands...

The two main gripes I hear here about the HP-307 is the relatively noisy keyboard and the underpowered speakers (together with the cheesy cabinetry).

My assumption has been that the hollow, budget HP-307 cabinet construction is what contributes to the impression of more noise as compared to the V-Piano or the offerings from Kawai. If the more solid LX-10F construction reduces this noise, that would be a plus point. Additionally, the LX-10 has the same output rating but two extra 8" speakers which may address the impression of being underpowered as in the HP-307.

The problems with the HP307´s sound and speakers are not so much found in the bass but especially in the middle and treble range (even at moderate volumes), so I don´t expect 8¨ speakers to be the cure, assuming that there are no more other improvements (maybe LX10F speaker placement is better).

I still haven't tried the new LX-10 but its worth mentioning I was just at the dealer where I bought my 307 and was playing his LX-10 (not the new F version).

One thing about the LX-10 that I don't recall mentioned is you can subtly feel the vibrations of the speakers in the keys. It reminded me of when I am at in my teachers studio and how you can feel the vibrations of the strings in the keys as you release.

I like his LX-10, the keys are less thumpy than the 307, I'm curious to try the LX-10F.

Talking of rolands noisey keys on the 307,how does the RD700gxf compare.
Is the V-piano quieter than the 700GX.

Really thinking about it I would have to say it was only a function of the LX-10's frame is probably a little more robust which made the keybed mounted more securely. Its still thumpy, just not as thumpy.

Interesting. I wonder if the thumpiness is a function of contact sound or air waves sound and if there is a materially measurable difference.

Anyone try out an LX-10F with the PHA-III keyboard yet?

I'm on the verge of buying a Roland LX10-F in the UK, just searching around for the best deal. I was initially looking at a Roland HP307 but then thought I'd err towards Yamaha, imagining them to both sound and play better. A big factor is my wife (who originally wanted a 'real' piano). After persuasion she agreed to go down the digital route but she said it had to 'look right'. She didn't like the gold plate on the Yamaha so we went back to Roland. It was initially my compromise but I have to say I think the HP 307 with its NATURALPiano sound sounds better than the Yamaha CLP models we looked at and the LX10-F is really an upgraded version of this. As a piece of furniture it looks stunning (took me ages to track one down) and I think it sounds great too. It also has higher power output than the 307 which is a bonus, given some of the criticisms I've heeard about the 307. It costs more than we originally considered spending but I have to say it ticks all the boxes and I feel we have made the right choice. Hoping to order within the next week.

Have you considered the RG-3F or the RG-1F? Your wife might really like the look of one of those!

Have you actually found one in a shop to compare with the HP307?

I agree they look fabulous, but we haven't really got the space for one. Next time maybe!

They do have both in the shop. I spent significantly more time on the 307 and was certainly satisfied with that. Both have the same sound engine bhe LX10-F is noticeably, albet marginally better and has a greater depth of sound. Whether it's worth £1,000 more is debateable but the overall look is important and I have to say that from that perspective it's perfect.

New English-language demonstration video of LX-10F

http://www.kraftmusic.com/catalog/keyboards/88keykeyboards/index.asp?product=8081

By the way, it is interesting that Kraft is suggesting to bundle an expensive Yamaha sub-woofer with the piano...don't see any retailers of the Kawai CA93 suggesting that the instrument needs more support in the bass department.
