Hey all!

I'll be in Traverse City on Friday at Evola Music (the old Kurtz Music store) for a program called "The Evolution of the RX Grand Piano." I'll be talking about the progression of Kawai grands over the years, and the recent changes and updates to the pianos. I'll also cover regulation specs, and touch on voicing just a bit as time allows.

Dinner is included! Check with Chris at the store for more details.

The rest of the weekend I'll be working at Interlochen on their Shigeru Kawai pianos.

I hope some of you from that neck of the woods can make it.

Hi Don:
I think that all 5 of the Interlochen techs will be attending. We're looking forward to your visit. We've been tuning Kawai after Kawai all summer long.

Hopefully this will be a chance to meet some of the other PW forum members in the area.

I flew in today - I think I like this part of Michigan! Maybe I should come back in January to get a balanced view, though. :-)

I would definitely attend if I could Don, I'm sure it will be a great class but, I can't. I am heading up north to the Mackinac Bridge tomorrow for a funeral instead, unfortunately. Then, a week of vacation after that. If you ever get the chance, go up to the bridge and cross it, the upper peninsula is very beautiful too.

That's my old stomping grounds...we moved to Southwestern Michigan about 20 years ago; in my early days as a tech I lived in Traverse City region!

If you get a chance, drive M22 around the shore from Frankfort to downtown Traverse...you'll pass my old house. Beautiful drive along the bayshore.

Wish we could be there for your presentation...it sounds really great.

Happy Summer though!

Thanks to Don for visiting northern Michigan this weekend. We had around 15 techs for the presentation at Evola music. Mr. Evola took us all out to a nice meal beforehand. Then Don spent the rest of the weekend at Interlochen servicing the Shigeru Kawai pianos. He let the Interlochen techs tag along and watch what he did for a couple of days. I'm sure we got in the way a little, but he was very gracious about explaining everything he was doing. So, it was quite an educational experience. A nice bonus to spending the summer up here.

Sorry I couldn't make it to Michigan. Maybe you'll give the program in California sometime...

Man, I had to go up in January once to drop off a cello. It was snowing, and I pulled off a few miles short and stayed in a little motel where there were gaps around all of the windows and a breeze coming through the room--the last room they had. I got my sleeping bag from the car, slept with my clothes on, and survived the night in misery. If you want to stay there some January, I'll try to dig up the name of the place.

Originally I'm from Alpena, directly across on the other side of the state, but I don't remember winters like that.
