I just got my sp-32 3-pedal unit for my px-130 and while it looks and feels nice, the middle pedal seems to do.... nothing. Actually every once in a while it will act as a sustain almost, same kind of sound, but thats once every like 10-15 presses. Otherwise it seems to have no effect. Is it broken? The other 2 pedals function fine, and there is no way Im returning this (already been through a huge headache with guitar center... long story).

It's a sustain pedal, but only for that which you have already hit and are currently holding down. Hit a chord, hit the middle pedal and hold. Keep your foot down, but lift your fingers. That chord, only, holds, and you can then play notes around it and they will not sustain.

I would have expected the sostenuto pedal to be explained in the owner's manual.

And it is called a sostenuto pedal. Unless it's a bass sustain pedal (but that is more usually a feature of lower-end APs).

On some DPs the left pedal can be assigned to different functions, eg soft pedal, Leslie speed for organs fast or slow, etc

It is in the px-130 manual but it is explained very poorly and not how it actually operates. The unit itself came with no operation manual.

In case you're wondering about the left pedal I'm pretty sure it's the clutch.

You're assuming people take the time to read the owner's manual. Of course, it's possible he's not the owner of the piano in which case it is unlikely he would be allowed to read the owner's manual.

http://casio.com has the manual online. You have to look under the Support link, rather than the Musical Instruments link.

PS- I don't see any drivers or firmware updates for this model, but whenever you get a new digital thing it usually pays to look online to see if they exist.

great explanation. I have never read my manual in much detail, and have never understood what it was for :o). I can't wait until I get home to have a play.
