hello key-pressing people,

I'm pretty much in a dilemma right now.. After a long search for a DP I narrowed this search down to 2 Roland DP's,
the RP201 and the HP201. But I could only test the RP201
and I liked the PHA alfa II, the piano sound and it's resonance features (damper, string, key-off).. But the HP201 is the same price in europe (as previously mentioned in another topic) and that DP has the PHA, (note that it says PHA II* on roland's site, the * refers to the fact that all HP20* DP's have PHA II except the HP201) could someone compare the PHA with PHA II or PHA alfa II? or point out why I should buy one of the two?

I like the non-Alpha much beter than Roland's "alpha" key action. I think it is the same as comparing Yamaha's GHS with their GH keys. Both eht "Alpha" and the "GHS" are very light and don't have the weighted feel of the more expensive non=alpha or GH keys. I'd go with the bettr keys if you can afford it. With the sound, in general later model DPs are better.

With effort and a computer you can upgrade the sound of any DP with MIDI but you can't upgrade the key action.

I don't know much about the specific Rolland models you are looking at.

Thanks for your reaction Chris,

I now may have a solution to test the HP201's action because I have lessons on a Roland KR-5 that also has PHA. But is this for sure the same action as the HP201's PHA? Can anyone confirm this?
