My 2nd visit from the Yamaha dealer tech is coming up soon (6 months from purchase). The 1st tech visit (4 wk after purchase) was strictly tuning since my GC1 came straight out from the crate.

What should I expect or entitled to for this 2nd visit ?

Tuning, Regulation ...

Please advise.

koiloco,

Has the Yamaha Service Bond been performed?
The piano will be gone over with a fine tooth comb.
Tightening all nuts and bolts, including the bench bolts.
Checking sound board, ribs, pin block, action, traps, much more.
Tuning.

hi Bear,

the 1st visit was simply a tuning. So no, the Service Bond has not been performed yet.
Great, it's good to know everything will be checked out.

Thx.

Hi Bear 1,

How about any other brands? Do you think they should perform something similar to the Yamaha's Service Bond that you have mentioned?

I have read somewhere that some minor regulation may be needed for the second visit. My second servicing by the Dealer is also coming up soon. By the way, I own a W&L 122 Universal. Hope you could enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

Hi keeferae,

Yes, I do think that all manufactures should issue a service bond for their piano owners. Unfortunately most do not due to the added expenses involved with doing it the right way.

Regarding your nice W&L 122 Universal, I don't know what type of manufacturers warranty is issued in Singapore. You may or may not get the minor regulation that you mentioned, that would be up to your dealer I would think. Why don't you call your dealer and ask him what all comes along with your second visit by the piano technician. Ask him if it's just a free tuning or will the tech do some minor regulation for you at no charge to you? Good luck, keeferae, with your piano service.

By the way, Singapore is one of my favorite cities. I usually stay at the Oriental or the Ritz-Carlton. I usually swing by Raffles for a delicious Singapore Sling too .. Also enjoyed the night zoo and also "Singapore on Sale" shopping days. smile
Ah, Singapore is a "Fine" city.
They fine you for doing just about anything. smile But I love it.

Anyway, enjoy your W&L 122, and good luck with your upcoming service and tuning.

All the best,

Bear

koilco, the Service Bond prep should be performed. You may want to talk to the dealer, to make sure that it will be.

Hi Bear 1,

Thanks very much for your advice.

Yes, Singapore is a "Fine" city indeed. That's why the ruling political party here, the People's Action Party (PAP) is nicknamed "Pay And Pay" for good reasons. Hahaha!

Like everywhere else, things are getting very expensive due to inflation. If you are thinking of swinging by again, perhaps in a few years time, it would be more interesting. We have the Marina Sands casino and integrated resort and Universal Studio at Sentosa Island coming up..............sorry for the sidetrack.
