Be fair! He had an atrociously high lifestyle to maintain - died of overwork.

Look! In that smoky bar! It's...it's.. THE PIANO MAN! [cue heroic music]

...sing us a song tonight...

I'll figure it out eventually.
Until then you may want to keep a safe distance.

This thread is just as dumb as the "Are pianist's more intelligent" thread.

There are famous pianists that lived long lives, and there are ones that didn't, like Dinu Lipatti and Gershwin. Same as any profession...

Currently working on:
Bach: Invention 8 in F major
Chopin: Prelude No. 6 in b minor
Haydn: Sonata in Dmaj, Hob XVIII/DI

It's not the topic that counts it's what you make of it - in both threads (I think Bach would agree there).

I don't know about living longer, but studies have indicated that keyboard musicians (piano, organ), especially if they are reading music when they play, suffer less from dementia, in all of its various forms. Apparently it has to do with how the brain is stimulated.

A good reason to keep playing in my opinion!

If Piano causes you to have a sedated life style, then no it will kill you.... laugh

If you have gained weight because you play instead of exercise it will kill you... laugh
