Wow... Now this is just ridiculous! Those alternating black/white keys would mess me up!

I've always said that appearance doesn't matter. I adore 'R's'.. but would turn down a chance to be given one if it looked like that.

appropriate for the right person maybe.

If you look at the other custom finishes Gibson is offering, it appears they are making a joke out of the piano. At least that's the way I see it.

Wow... that's really aweful. I'm not convinced that even Ray Charles could play that without feeling a sense of violation of all that is sacred about a piano. Just goes to show that there is no accounting for taste.

I'm really curious to know how many pianos with that extreme a finish have actually been sold, as opposed to having pictures sent 'round the web. (not meaning the flamed one just above, but the OP).

All these crazy finishes are actually on the Gibson piano site. Take a look.

The worst one, hands down, is "Feelin' Groovy"

I wish they'd change the name, poor Baldwin has been stained for ever. frown

Having played that "Zebra" piano at the past Namm shows, I found it very difficult to play in that with the key colors reversed, I felt very disoriented with the sharps. Though whoever buys that piano probably won't play it much anyway. grin

Leave it to a guitar company to try their hand at piano finishing. It's sort of like Connan O'Brian when he shows two celebrities and then makes a composite, saying that is what their baby would look like. In the guitar world there is constant pressure to come up with the most creative finish for their high end guitars. Well, I have news for Gibson, Piano's ain't guitars. The Gibson ownership of Baldwin has been one huge blunder after another, imho.

I kinda like the Baroque, but that "Feelin Groovy" would have me feeling sick.

I'd been looking for a unique piano finish for several years while shopping. I came across all of these designs. To answer your question, I would buy a piano like this! I just really don't like the touch and tone of a Baldwin (having learned on one many years ago). If Yamaha built a Zebra C3, I might have gone for it. Instead, I'm planning to paint the music desk and keyblocks gold and add a fleur d' lis decal to the outside rim. whomeWHODAT!

"Feeling Queasy" might be a better name. I might be able to live with the tie-dye, but not the Smiley Face.

However, I know a die-hard Deadhead who would have it in the house just for the look. She doesn't play, by the way. But she still appears in public wearing tie-dye outfits.

I wonder what Liberace would have said about Baldwin's new finishes. He was known to take liberties, for the stage impact.
