How close are we to building digital screens into the music stands on acoustic pianos? I would love one of these. I hate turning pages. Certainly, with the advent of the IPAD we are close.

Sync-A-Vision has wonderful capabilities, but does not yet have sheet music available that would be the same as having a book or score sitting on the music desk.

Dear MOP,

I beg to differ.

Please check out www.airturn.com and look under the capabilities of Music Reader . This is what is used in The Cunningham Composer!

Rich, is this used through the Piano Disc Sync-A-Vision system? I believe the OP was inquiring about something built into the music desk/rack.

I think Air-Turn is a great product, but it isn't built in, correct?

My first post was in response to Oblacone, who posted a link to Piano Disc's Sync-A-Vision.

I'll bet it won't be long, though, before the OP's hope is a reality! smile

I would wait until musical readers come out for the iPad. Then you don't have to buy a single purpose music reader, but can use the iPad for many other things as well.

Volusiano,

90 days or so.

MOP,

The syncavision is all run on third party software. The syncavision is just a computer monitor. The software that you install can be anything, including Music Reader:

http://www.airturn.com/musicreader/musicreader

The airturn can be added on so you can seamlessly read your music, of course.

Rich, I certainly stand corrected, and am humbled before your vast knowledge, O Wise One. smile

Ours is a much smaller market than your area, and in the present economy the Sync-A-Vision hasn't had much pin action as some of the larger markets. But, that's no excuse, and I should have refreshed my memory on the system before making my post. My apologies.

I don't think I'd want something actually built-in to my piano in any way. An ad-on is fine.

The problem would be the speed with which technology is moving no matter what the technical platform is. How about in 20 or 50 or 80 or 100 years from now when we have some other (who knows what?) display and input standards.

I already experienced some of that with a Kurzweil keyboard I have with a floppy diskette drive in it. They are just about unavailable and it's not easy to find something that reads them. This is just after 13 years.

You'd have to update the technology somehow every few years. Plus you wouldn't be able to buy any applications for it after a while.

I've been around technology too long to trust it for very long.

Here's the thing Roger. With a system driven like this one you could literally replace the computer (which could be a MAC or a PC), update the software, add software, add hardware and add-ons, etc., etc.

Your Kurzweil (love Kurzweil) would be a mean machine if you could do all that, wouldn't it??
