Hi Riddler,
I see you have used Box.net for the May Piano Bar. I have an account, but cannot figure out how to attach file to Piano World. The instructions here at Piano World say go to fully reply and look for file manager. I cannot seem to find file manager. Any suggestions? smile

Peyton, I enjoyed the Schumann piece. It sounds great to me although I really don't know this one.

Johan B Talk of the Town is one of the few standards I'm not familiar with. Most I have either played, sung, or listened to numerous times over the years. This one is not at all familiar. What a beautiful piece it is, too! I really enjoyed listening to what you've done with it.

I am impressed with your classical pieces, Johan B. I love Schubert's Mass in G Major. Thanks for Agnus Dei - wonderfully and sensitively played, I must say. The Schumann piece is less familiar to me, but no less beautiful. outstanding job on both, sir.

salzdt,

in box net you need to share the file you want to upload. Then you copy the direct link that box assigns to your file. Come here and change to full reply window. Click the second icon from the left - the one that looks like the world over a chain link. Then paste the url there. Then hit ok and add anything else you wish to the post. Hope this helps. you really don't upload the file to Piano World, you share it with us.

Peyton, the Schumann was beautiful, and though the octaves are tricky, you managed them! laugh

Rick, I just can't agree with your self-assessment there. I don't know why you're so hard on yourself!

I've been quiet (aka busy), but been practicing a little, and now I have two offerings.

I've played this one before, but now I composed my own chorus. The first chorus is 'Syncopated Boogie' Tim Richards, Improvising Jazz, and the second chorus is my own, using the same bass:

And on a similar theme, I used Red Sky Romp (Peter Friesen, Take the Lead 2) and wrote a new little 8 bar theme for it. Here you hear a mix of what Pete wrote, and me doing a little variation:

Here is a tiny video of me toying with an idea I had today. I was doing some harmony exercises but I couldn't stay focused for too long so I had to do something else for a moment smile

Hi Laura! I loved your two presentations to the PB! Of course, you know that any kind of “boogie-woogie” is close to my heart!! grin I particularly loved your improvision of Red Sky Romp.

And, thanks for the kind words regarding my meager piano playing abilities! You play very well yourself! thumb

Teodor, I enjoyed your presentation!

Take care!

Rick

Peyton, I really enjoyed that.. very inspiring. smile Still catching up, but everyone sounds wonderful. thumb

Well, this is a mish-mash of sheet music and my own arrangement. I think it's usually played faster, but this is the best I can do for now.. will try to record it again sometime when my hands are in better shape.

Here I am, playing the Prelude from Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin, after an absence of more than 20 years. The last time I played this piece was in 1984.

@Johan B: Classical indeed. Very nice.

@ten left thumbs: Nice. The melodies are really flowing quite nicely.

@Teodor: lol. Focus. If you've got any spare around, I could use some. I'm hoping there's more of that wandering around in your brain that will come out some day. It was very nice.

@Elssa: I want to hear the piano more. I think this one should lose the string accompaniment. Very enjoyable.

@Philip Yeoh: yikes, that is some impressive fingerwork.

Thanks, Rickster! smile This piece was actually written for violin/strings, but it's a lot of fun to play on piano. laugh

TLT - When Syncopated Boogie first kicked in I thought you were going to break into Elvis's All Shook Up (starts the same way). I really like this boogie.

Your Variations on Red Sky Romp was a very fun, breezy piece. You have a flair for boogie.
