Most of the RH fingering goes like this: 1,2,(4/5 or 3/5),2,1/5. However, in measures 15, 21 and 22, the 3/5 is quite a stretch played at speed. I'm not able to play it cleanly all the time with that figering.
I'm contemplating using: 1,2,2/5,1,1/4 (measures 15, 21 and 22).
What do you use? Any suggestions?
My 2 editions have: 3/5 (Schirmer) and no fingering (Paderewski).
Thanks,

The problem with that is, the RH thumb holds through the bar creating an inner voice. If the problem is the 1-2-3-5 stretch in tight quarters, why not help out with your left hand?

Hi, jeffreyjones,

"the RH thumb holds through the bar creating an inner voice".
Very true, but since the Schirmer's editor wrote that Chopin himself indicated pedalling once per full measure except in half-a-dozen instances, I feel that lifting the thumb in the 3 measures I'm worried about is not an issue because the sustain pedal takes care of it.

Since I wrote my original post I've 'discovered' that reversing 1,2 in these 3 measures may be an even better possibility: 2,1,25,1,14.

Regards,

Jose
