Mohan, that was beautiful. heart I've seen/heard other transcriptions of Requiem for a Dream around (and even tried my hand at playing one transcription that was floating around), but I like your arrangement the best so far... it's less frenetic than the others I've seen but with a quiet power that's striking.

I like your blog, too! I enjoyed reading the history of the Requiem.

Well played! Sounds beautiful. Makes me want to go finish learning that (or similar?) version.. the chords near the end trip me up.

@Monika: Thx a lot smile

@7even: Haha, ya the chord near the end is crazy. If you notice carefully, I skip the 4 16th note chords in the LH near the end and make them into just 2 16th note chords. All thanks to pedaling lol smile. I dont see how people finish those 4 chords and come 2 octaves higher and play the other 2 chords up in time.

@eweiss: I still hv to watch the movie ><

@elssa: Thats the intention smile.. So ty smile

That was nice the bells bring out the piece. You should try this peace called To Loves End from Inu Yasha

But I'm not really sure if the more difficult version is, as one would assume, better.

<---- Just tried to play the piece again. Resists impulse to ask if a LESS difficult version exists!

@strings: Thx a lot smile. Pianoteq does sound amazing. I havent turned back since the first day I tried it!

@kovarex: That is Clint Mansell's version I guess! I'm planning to play that with 4 hands with a friend smile smile.. Thats too hard to solo. If you do succeed with a solo, post it up.. It'll inspire me to try it.

@623: Just heard that piece. Sounds really smooth and relaxing.. *adds to my list* smile.. thx..

@Monica: I've seen ur Enuadi vids.. Cmon! I see them everyday for inspiration to play Nefeli.. This should be easy for you smile smile..

Ah, but Einaudi usually plays only one or two notes per hand at a time. wink

My waterloo on this Mansell piece are the left hand chord inversions in the first measure on the last line of p. 1. I just can't get my fingers in position along those four D chords fast enough. frown I think the rest of the piece is doable (esp. with Mohan's variation on the chords toward the end), so maybe I just need to do a little creative cheating arranging on that one measure.

@Monika: Haha.. Those 4 are a nightmare.. I just grinded my way through them for a long time till I remembered them impulsively. Its just 4 chords. Thats the good part about them.

For starters maybe u can play them as triads. Once you are comfortable, change them to full versions.

Hey Mohan (and others)... are you pedaling throughout the piece? Or just the couple of early measures where pedaling is indicated on the score?

I Overlap pedal. As in I "pedal" at all the chord changes, but the pedal is active throughout the piece.

That was FANTASTIC!! wow Better, even, I think than the Mansell arrangement, because the improv added some interesting melodic variation.
