1655 seems like yesterday to some of us (or maybe it's just that I feel old so early in the morning).

Oh well, what does that matter. If you're in the mood to observe the birthday of the inventor of the piano, today is the day. He's 355--- and you're as young as you feel.

Dear Amerigo,

We still love the 'Gravicembolo col piano e forte'. This is what he called his first instrument that struck the strings rather than plucked them. It means 'keyboard instrument for soft and loud'.

It also seems fitting to pay homage to all of the hundreds of people that added to the technology, particularly during the nineteenth century of development of this instrument. They are the people that made this instrument what we love today.
