Would appreciate any input on a new Sejung USA grand. It doesn't have sticker but looks exactly like a Falcone. It's almost 6 ft and the price is $8,880. I am advanced intermediate, adult and want a paino that was last for 25 - years. Was wondering if anyone had opinions on Quality of action, strings, etc... I do like the sound.

Hi Joe:

My experience with Sejung is that they are nicely designed, have a nicer tone than a lot of other pianos in that price range and use reasonably good materials, including a sand cast plate and hammers that are more open in their tone. As far as your 25 year period, not sure. I consider most Korean/Indonesian/Chinese pianos to be good for about 20 years under normal light to moderate home use, and 10 years under heavy use (action problems) but cannot rate the Sejung for that. I see no reason not to believe that it will stand up for as long as any other piano in it's competitive league. You may find that the action will need a good overhaul in several years, but that is true with most of these pianos when used more than the average home by a more advanced player, and as such I usually do not recommend these for someone like yourself. However, price is king and for the money it's a good piano.

Thanks. I looked/played an Essex 5ft 1" that has a great sound, excellent feel and range of volume and really like it. Of course, it's a good deal more, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Anything wrong with the Essexs?

The model number and serial number from the plate would confirm the brand. Sejung pianos tune up better than some of the other makes from that corner of the world. That fact alone gives them an edge in my book.
